Holidays to Sardinia - A Great Opportunity of Joining Beach Life and Cultural Amusements

Sardinia is the ideal destination for who is looking for a gorgeous sea, terrific landscapes and wonderful rocky and sandy beaches. Its geographical position in the centre of the Mediterranean sea make it a comfortable destination thanks to the several airlines connecting directly Sardinian airports to main European capital cities. The weather is pleasantly mild at least for 8 months per year and the high security level makes it a perfect destination for a family holiday.

However Sardinia is not only a good destination for beaching and sea sports activities. Thanks to its millenary history and to its isolated position it has original cultural traditions that make it totally different from other islands and countries. The several archaeological sites of the Nuragic era testify a very old history started in the 3.000 b.c. and continued with the Punic, Phoenician and Roman dominations. The dominations of Pisa and Spain, the Sardinian-Piedmontese kingdom have left behind traces of a fascinating past.

Furthermore the presence of a Sardinian language (it is not a dialect), of indigenous cultures and a craftsmanship traditions that may not be compared with others are further evidences that show that Sardinia cannot be considered only a summer destination. Sardinia has also great wines, foods and ancient recipes that is another aspect of a rich culture.

The wine Sardinian tradition is really interesting with its indigenous vines that become little masterpieces thanks to the talented work of skilled wine makers. Sea foods such as tuna, lobsters, oysters, mussels, sea urchins, fresh fishes have an unique taste. The cheese made with goat or sheep milk, the precious extra-virgin olive oils, the saffron (called the Sardinian gold), the meat and vegetables produced with natural methods show how the Sardinians keep in high consideration the quality foods. The basic rule of the Sardinian cuisine is the full respect of the quality foods and it means that the recipes must be simple: a great food does not need complicated elaborations and condiments.
